  3. the phone number you have selected.  As a reminder, wait for the ring, and
  4. then type "ATA" and hit the Enter key.

  6.          DO NOT PUT YOUR TERMINAL PROGRAM IN HOST MODE!  IT WON'T WORK!

  8. Lots of times, you'll see a string of garbage with the modems first connect.
  9. Don't panic.  Just press your <ENTER> key once or twice to help my modem
  10. determine the proper baud rate. And make sure you tell everyone in your house
  11. not to answer the phone!
